BAKU, March 3, 2021 - Sport activities have been suspended in Azerbaijan since March of 2020 along with schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. Complete lockdowns were introduced in major cities, including the capital Baku.

 

Strict quarantine measures were applied in connection with the pandemic for nine months (March – December 2020). All sports events are still postponed. The work of sports journalists was also limited and Journalists working for local TV channels, print and electronic media still continue to be active.

 

On the 23rd of February, Azerbaijan Sport Journalists Association launched a new project with the teaching staff of the Journalism Faculty of Baku State University, the oldest and most prestigious higher education institution in Azerbaijan. The project is aimed to arrange professional training of the reporters, working in sports media. The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on long-term cooperation. This event was widely covered by 9 local TV channels and many websites operating in the country
